Software Engineering Intern

We are erudeon. We build pass the year, which gets Dutch university students through their exams, and flow, which gets them out of the house afterwards. Both run out of one TypeScript monorepo: Next.js, React, Prisma and Postgres, Stripe for payments, and a React Native app. Around four hundred students paid us last year and ten programmes open this one.

This is the seat for someone who wants to write the logic underneath a product people actually pay for, rather than a ticket at the edge of one.

What you will actually do

- Backend and domain logic: what a membership grants, when a payment becomes access, what happens when it does not. - Work in a schema whose reasoning is written into the code beside it, and add to that reasoning rather than working around it. - Ship in your first week. That is the standard, not a stretch goal. - Take real problems that are open right now: a checkout nobody follows up, a receipt that never arrives, a feed publishing things it should not. - Argue for where a thing should live, in a pull request, with someone who will argue back.

What we are looking for

You can already build something end to end, in any language. You have opinions about data models and you can explain one of them. You read code before you change it. You are comfortable being the least experienced person in the repository for a while, and uncomfortable staying there.

TypeScript, React or Postgres experience is useful and none of it is required. Curiosity about why the code is shaped the way it is matters more.

You will use AI to write code here. Everybody does. What we care about is whether you can tell when it is wrong.

What you get

Six months, twenty to forty hours a week, hybrid in Rotterdam. If you are a student: a stage, agreed with your university or hogeschool, with written learning objectives and a founder as your supervisor, and an allowance of 450 euro a month at forty hours, prorated to the hours you work. If you have already graduated: an employment contract at the statutory minimum or above, and we say so before you decide. Code review from a founder on every pull request, which is the fastest way anyone has ever learned to write software. Production access to a real product with real users and real money moving through it.

How this runs

We read every application within two working days and answer every one, including with a no. Then a thirty-minute conversation, video or in person. Then a small pull request against a real open issue, paired for the first hour, and paid if it takes you longer than that. Then an offer, or a straight answer.
